Problem Soved!!

Not the problem in the afore-blogged entry where I freaked out and probably lost a couple of regular visitors, but another little tiny problem.

Last year, our neighbor gave us a trampoline. It had seen a few summers and her kids used it a lot, but hey, we have one 3-year-old boy, and this tramp had plenty of bounce left, so what more could we ask for? For me, it was a sanity saver! We set the tramp up outside of the kitchen window so I could keep an eye on Mr. B while he expelled hours of pent-up energy out in the yard. It had a net to keep the kid in because it took him a week or two to get the hang of it and he had a blast out there!

Then Bella got bored. Bella the dog. Bella the GREAT DANE (she’s a mantle). After trying, unsuccessfully, to get up ON the trampoline, she thought she would eliminate what was keeping her off of it; the net surrounding the bouncy mat. She managed to rip off half of the net before we found her rolling around with it in her mouth.

I wasn’t sure that it mattered very much if half the net was gone, I mean, I was always watching, right? I didn’t just say “Go outside” and hope that he didn’t fall off while jumping, right? SURE…famous last words…

When Mr. B’s friend Joey came over to play, they naturally wanted to hop on the tramp for awhile. And I was watching from the window and everything. Until I bent down to put a dish in the dishwasher and I stood up and Mr. B wasn’t on the tramp, he was on the ground. I panicked rushed out to him and he started screaming! His face and glasses were covered in dirt and he had a few pebbles stuck to his head and hands. I told Joey to get off the tramp and go play on the swings while I got Mr. B cleaned up, but he was fine. Not even a drop of blood – he had tried to jump off the tramp and his momentum made him do a head dive after his feet hit the ground.

But I didn’t care. It was scary and next time I might not be so lucky, so I put the dang thing on freecycle. I got 3 replies almost immediately. I promised it to the first lady – she never came to get it. I told the second lady she could have it – 4 days and 6 phone calls later, she told me she didn’t realize where I was located (though it was posted). But before I could get back to the third guy, we had a little weather blow through. And when I say blow, I mean like just shy of a tornado kind of blow trucks into your lane while driving down the highway kind of blow.

So, as I looked out the window when I got home this afternoon, this is what I saw:

Problem Solved!

Problem Solved

Apparently, Gila Man heard a HUGE crash and went out the back door to see the tramp UP SIDE DOWN ON OUR HOUSE!!! The next gush of wind blew it so it teetered off the side and he was able to tip it off the roof, but I am afraid to say that I think this might be un-reparable. Oh, that’s sad…

But then again, PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

  1. Crazy! My sister lives in Pima, and last summer they had a really bad wind storm, and afterwards, their tramp was gone. They live way out in the middle of nowhere, a few houses here and there. But they NEVER found it. It was just gone. Talk about crazy weather. I hope your son doesn’t miss it too much! I’m glad it was free!

  2. Wow, new blog layout!

I loved this story! And I don’t like trampolines either (I almost called them “tramps” to save typing time!! Haha!). My parents “tramp” blew over during their little tornado or whatever and it flew in the air and hit the roof of their neighbors garage! It put a hole in it. If that was me, I would’ve been so embarrassed.

Glad you’re able to get rid of it.

  3. Crazy weather. I’m glad that your roof wasn’t damaged by the trampoline. We got 8 inches of snow in Alpine this past week while I was there. In MAY!!! I was pretty sick of the stuff when I moved away from Pinetop…….to have to deal with it on my mini vacay SUCKED!! How was the mom’s night at the movies???? I wish I could have gone.
