When Mr. B and I were learning about the Statue of Liberty and immigrants, I asked him a few questions about the words we were learning.
“What do we call someone who leaves their own country and comes into ours?” I asked.
“Um..Mexicans?” he answered.
Correcting him and letting him know that the correct term was immigrants and that people from all over the world leave their countries and move into ours every day, I moved onto The Statue of Liberty.
“Who gave us the Statue of Liberty as a gift?”
“Good guess, but it was the French, sweetie.”
“Oh yeah.” he replied, “I remember…it was the Frenchicans!”
